Firman Allah SWT dalam surah Ali-Imran ayat 110 yang bermaksud: Kamu adalah umat yang terbaik yang dilahirkan untuk manusia, menyuruh kepada yang makruf, dan mencegah dari yang mungkar, dan beriman kepada Allah. Sekiranya ahli kitab beriman, tentulah itu lebih baik bagi mereka, di antara mereka ada yang beriman, dan kebanyakan mereka adalah orang-orang yang fasik.
"You are the best of peoples ever raised for mankind; you enjoined al-ma'ruf (right conduct) & forbid al-munkar (indecency), & you believe in Allah SWT. And had the people of the Scriptures (Jews & Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have Faith, but most of them are al-fasiqun (disobedient to Allah SWT & rebellious against Allah's Command)." Glorious Quran 3: 110.
Rasulullah SAW bersabda yang maksudnya: Barang siapa melihat suatu kemungkaran maka hendaklah ia cegah dengan tangannya (kekuasaan) jika tidak mampu cegahlah dengan lisannya (nasihat) dan jika tidak mampu juga maka hendaklah dicegah dengan hati (rasa benci). Demikian itu adalah selemah-lemah iman. (Hadith riwayat Muslim).
