Seorang sahabat Rasulullah, Yahya Ya'mar meriwayatkan bahawa Baginda SAW berkata: "Sesungguhnya amal perbuatan pertama yang dihisab pada hari kiamat adalah solat. Sekiranya sempurna, maka tercatat ke atasnya sempurna, jika tidak sempurna terjadi, Allah menyatakan kepada malaikat, "Perhatikan sama ada hamba aku didapati melakukan solat sunat. Sempurnakan solat itu dengan amalan solat sunat. Kemudian baru dihitung zakat dan seterusnya."
Oleh demikian, berdasarkan hadis berkenaan, jelas terbukti bahawa solat sunat merupakan ibadat penting. Tanggapan untuk mengabaikannya dengan memahami bahawa ibadat berkenaan hanya semata-mata sunat sahaja perlu ditepis oleh umat Islam.
