General approach for FPSO (floating production storage offloading) vessel assessment are based on converted tankers. Strength and fatigue assessment are based on environmental effect, global and local strength assessment, hull girder ultimate strength and fatigue assessment. FPSO conversion requires the following: • Prediction of environmental loads for strength and fatigue assessment: tanker trading history, transit to site and on-site operation; • Determination of renewable scantlings based on transit, on-site, inspection and repair conditions; • Evaluation of scantlings including hull girder ultimate strength assessment.
