FIRMAN Allah SWT yang bermaksud: Dia lah yang menjadikan bumi ini mudah bagi kamu, maka berjalanlah di segala penjurunya dan makanlah sebahagian daripada rezeki-Nya dan kepada-Nya lah kamu (kembali setelah) dibangkitkan. (Quran, al-Mulk: 15). Islam sejak awal pengajarannya telah menggalakkan umat manusia mengembara untuk menimba ilmu pengetahuan. Apatah lagi Allah SWT menegaskan banyak perkara yang mempunyai hubungkait dengan pengembaraan. Antaranya, perintah Allah supaya melihat alam yang pelbagai rupa, melihat kesan-kesan kaum yang terdahulu, berkenalan antara bangsa dan kabilah dan pelbagai lagi. Kesemuanya itu bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan insan tentang kehidupan dan mendalami pengetahuan tentang Ilahi.
