Firman Allah SWT yang bermaksud: Kamu tidak sekali-kali akan dapat mencapai (hakikat) kebajikan dan kebaktian (yang sempurna) sebelum kamu dermakan sebahagian daripada apa yang kamu sayangi. Dan sesuatu apa jua yang kamu dermakan maka sesungguhnya Allah mengetahuinya. (Quran Karim, Ali-Imran: 92). Syed Qutub berkata: "Orang Islam di waktu turunnya ayat ini telah memahami maksud arahan Ilahi ini dan mereka begitu gemar dan teringin untuk mencapai darjat kebaktian yang menjadi intisari segala kebaikan dan kebajikan dengan menyerahkan segala apa yang disenangi mereka dan mengorbankan harta benda mereka yang baik dengan murah hati kerana mengharapkan balasan yang lebih baik dan lebih utama."
