The load case is to simulate transverse external load of the SWATH ship. Hydraulic loading system is used to load external force in the structural model test.
Firstly, repeated loading and unloading were done 3~5 times to release residual stress. The maximum load is close to yield limit.
Secondly, load increased gradually in order to observe the linear rule between the load and the strain. Test in the range of linear strain must be performed at least twice to check up the repeatability of the test data.
Thirdly, the load case was applied with all synchronization for ten hydraulic jacks until the model collapsed. The strain and displacement were recorded per ton before every hydraulic jack loads 6 ton. Then, the strain and displacement were recorded per half ton until the test model collapsed. The test model was considered to have failed when a sudden and significant permanent deformation was observed accompanied with continual loud noise and a noticeable reduction in load of the hydraulic jacks.
