Selain Hari Raya Aidiladha, hari ini juga merupakan hari pertama bagi kaum muslimin melakukan ibadah korban dan akan berakhir pada hari tasyrik yang terakhir iaitu pada 13 Zulhijjah. Selama tiga hari ini kita disunatkan untuk menyembelih haiwan ternak sebagai korban. Sama ada kambing, lembu ataupun unta. Dagingnya lalu dibahagi-bahagikan kepada fakir miskin yang memerlukan. Sebahagiannya boleh dijadikan hadiah kepada rakan handai dan boleh juga dimakan untuk santapan keluarga. Penyembelihan haiwan korban ini sebenarnya simbolik bagi kepatuhan seorang mukmin kepada tuhannya. Allah tidak menilai kesempurnaan ibadah ini dengan daging dan darah haiwan tersebut, akan tetapi memandang kepada kualiti takwa yang terdapat di dalam hati pelaku ibadah ini. Amalkan membaca surah al-Waqiah selepas solat Asar atau lepas solat Maghrib. Rasulullah SAW berpesan bacalah surah al-Waqiah agar kita tidak ditimpa fakir. Kalau boleh bukan surah al-Waqiah sahaja,tapi semua surah kita baca. 1 huruf dapat 10 kebaikan, kalau baca dalam solat, 1 huruf dapat 1000 kebaikan. Kalau baca bulan puasa (atau masa puasa sunat) lagilah tak terhitung. Wallahu a'lam.

Merit of the Congregational Prayer: Hadrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Allah's Messenger (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said: Prayer of a man in his house is one (1) prayer, and his prayer in the mosque of the tribes is prayer by 25 times, and his prayer in the congregational mosque is prayer by 500 times, and his prayer in the farthest mosque Masjid Aqsa (of Jerusalem) is prayer by 50,000 times and his prayer in my mosque is prayer by 50,000 times and his prayer in the sacred mosque (of Ka'ba) is prayer by 100,000 times.
